I love love love podcasts. They keep me company while I walk the dogs, drive the kids, doing the laundry, loading and unloading dishes and sometimes when I craft at night.

A while ago I noticed all I listened to were MEN. I quickly rectified the situation and found a ton of women who make me laugh, think and relate to my own struggles as a woman working, writing and raising a family.

If you love books as much as I do these are my must listen to picks for book nerds:

The Librarian is In

This is a hilarious podcast with two New York City Librarians. It is super librariany, fabulous if you want to know how librarians think and what we talk about behind the stacks. I love Gwen and Frank, yes, I feel like I know them personally. I discovered this podcast after they were interviewed on What Should I Read next with Anne Bogel.

Reading Glasses with Brea Grant and Mallory O’Meara.

I recently discovered this podcast when Anne Bogel, What Should I Read Next, was interviewed. They talk about bookish things, have book suggestions and interview great guests. My favorite podcast has to be Episode 66 where they talk about Book Rhymes that were used in the past to make sure people returned books! They are creepy, hilarious and have me thinking about making my own.

Here is an example of a Book Rhyme.

(Thank you wikipedia!)

Everytown is my dwelling-place
America is my nation
John Smith is my name

And Christ is my salvation
And heaven my expectation

or this gem

Nathaniel Ager is my name and England is my nation,
Seaburgh is my dwelling-place and Christ is my salvation,
When I am dead and in my Grave, and all my bones are rotton,
I hope the Lord will think on me when I am long forgotton.

Hmmm, I wonder why people were so eager to switch to book plates and embossing

Kitchen Sisters: The Keepers series

I found this podcast this week and fell in love with it. They have a series called The Keepers, that will also be aired on NPR stations during Morning Edition. It is all about the keepers of history, archivists, librarians and historians who understand how important, the unimportant might seem. They save it so we can better understand our culture, past, present and future. The first episode is about the hip-hop archives and I have found a whole new appreciation for this culture and music.

What Should I Read Next with Anne Bogel

You know how I feel about this podcast and this woman! It is my favorite of favorites. I get tons of book suggestions from her and her guests.

The Simple Life with Tsh Oxenrider

While more of a lifestyle blog, Tsh Oxenrider is a world traveler who always asks her guests what they are reading now. She has a favorite segment of mine called, What is saving my life right now. It is a great way to stop and think about all the things I am thankful for when life gets overwhelming.
