Ah, it’s been a long weekend and I got very little writing done. I wave at my kids as they get on the bus. I walk the dogs. I open my computer to write the chapter due to my book coach tomorrow.
But wait!
I forgot to update my calendar. It will bother me all morning if I don’t do it right now. All right. I updated the current months calendar as well as every school closure until May. Hey, I am only thinking about the future. Now I won’t have to waste brain space on this.
Alright, kids at school, dogs walked, schedule updated.
Get to work!
But wait!
I was supposed to register for that workshop for my actual job. I need to do that now before I forget. Don’t want to be waitlisted. Ah, okay. Registered.
Alright, kids at school, dogs, walked, schedule updated, registered for workshop.
Get to work!
But wait!
I need to refresh my coffee. How can I write without any coffee? You know what would taste good with the coffee? A scone. Of course, I don’t have any scones. Maybe I could bike to the bakery? After all a writer needs writing fuel, am I right? Okay, so no scone. I pour a cup of coffee, pick up my laptop, notebook, pen, and coffee mug and head outside.
Alright, kids at school, dogs walked, schedule updated, registered for workshop, and fresh coffee (no scone)
Get to work!
But wait!
I haven’t exercised. I know as soon as I start writing I won’t stop and make time to walk or bike or strength train. Exercising may even get my creative juices flowing. I should really bike. Then I can bike to the bakery, get a scone AND count it as exercise.
Dong…Dong….Dong….Dong….Dong….Dong….Dong….Dong….Dong…
Crap, is it really already 9? Okay, so no bike ride to the bakery for a scone.
Alright, kids at school, dogs walked, schedule updated, registered for workshop and fresh coffee (still no scone) and exercise when I finish writing this chapter.
Get to Work!
But wait!
This would make a really good blog post, because I bet all my other writer friends are going through this same exact crisis this morning.
I open up my laptop and type away.
Alright, kids at school, dogs walked, schedule update, registered for workshop, and fresh coffee (man I really want that scone) blog post written (hey, it’s writing!)
NOW GET TO WORK.
Open up Scrivener and stare at the blank screen.
….Maybe I should start a load of laundry……
