My daughter bemoaned her recent assigned school reading. She asked how I got through Of Mice and Men when I was her age. I confessed to her I never read it.
How can I be a bibliophile and have such a long list of classics I haven’t read? Of Mice and Men, Grapes of Wrath, Lord of the Flies, A Brave New World and on and on and on. In 2018 I will remedy my dearth in classics by including at least 5 classics in my Goodreads Challenge.
One place I lag is classic mysteries. Somehow I how I have never picked up an Agatha Christie! I enjoy whodunnits, but mostly read psychological thrillers like Mary Kubica or
Ruth Ware.
So I remedied my problem by picking up And Then There Were None. A podcast I listen to, What Should I Read Next, suggested it to someone who liked a lot of the same authors I do. I had a fun time reading it. It reminded me of the game CLUE which I loved to play with my sisters when I was young. It kept me guessing the whole book, and the ending shocked me.
Now I am trying to get my hands on a copy of Murder on the Orient Express before I see the movie. I always prefer reading the book before the movie but I may make an exception this time because I love the cast.
What is your favorite whodunit? What classics haven’t you read? Tell me I’m not the only bibliophile who is failing on this front.

My daughter only thinks it fair that I have to suffer like she did through the Lord of the Flies. But that is my goal for next year, so I think I might stick with Agatha Christie for a good long time 🙂
